Research Interests

The research interests of the Li laboratory are focused on the elucidation of novel molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development of atrial fibrillation (AF), which is the most common cardiac arrhythmia seen in clinic and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.

The lab conducts translational studies utilizing genetically engineered mouse models and human samples from AF patients. The projects of the lab employ a variety of multidisciplinary approaches including bioinformatics analyses, transcriptomics studies, biochemical and molecular biological studies, as well as electrophysiological studies.

The long-term goal of the research of the Li lab is to better define the molecular pathways that are responsible for AF development in order to develop novel therapeutic strategies for treating AF.
