Disciplines
The term 'disciplines' refers to research areas—such as physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, and pharmacology—that generally transcend organ systems. We hear a lot these days about interdisciplinary research, but without strong disciplines there can be none. Our Department helps to guard the disciplines of physiology as well as molecular and cellular biophysics.
