University of Michigan BS 2013, MSMP 2015, Penn State College of Medicine MD 2019
When I graduated from my undergraduate institution as a pre-med I had mediocre grades and a low MCAT score that were nowhere near competitive for medical school. However, throughout my time working full time in a research lab afterwards, I still had that dream of becoming a physician. The Medical Physiology Masters Program was the right choice for me as an opportunity to demonstrate that I could handle the academic rigors of medical school. After successfully completing the program, I was accepted to Penn State College of Medicine. My strong physiology background helped tremendously in the pre-clinical years. Perhaps more importantly, the study strategies and discipline I gained from this program allowed me to balance the busy schedules during rotations while studying for exams. I'm happy to say that I matched into my number one choice Anesthesiology residency program at the University of Pittsburgh!
